or antibiotics. The smaller half beef is also popular with single families who want all the beef cuts without filling an entire freezer. Local beef processors are eager to purchase all the animals we care to raise.

The Miniature Herefords have also proven to be wonderful in the show ring—gentle, easy to handle, and a great option for either the kids or others who just enjoy sharing their animals.

Last year we were fortunate to acquire our latest herd bull—KAP Silver Sampson, or Sam, as we affectionately call him. Since then he has gone on to earn Grand Champion status at all six of the shows he entered in Denver, Austin, Sacramento, and Houston. His record may never be broken, and he is now retired in the pasture with his adoring ladies.

Double W Ranch is a small ranch in the Panhandle of Texas. Because of our limited acreage, we chose to establish a herd of Miniature Herefords rather than the standard, mixed breed herds that are typical in our area.

Also because large, commercial feedlots are common in the Panhandle, we opted to fill a niche market with quality, natural fed beef—no hormones
